CNC lathes are invaluable for a large number of manufacturing and other operations and the machines range from huge industrial versions to mini systems suitable for home DIYers or hobbyists.
There are two basic types of CNC lathe – horizontal and vertical – and they are then further categorized by the number of axes they have, ranging from two to six. Horizontal lathes are the most common in manufacturing and machine shops as they offer the greatest flexibility for more complex parts. If you are producing small parts or need to produce large volumes, then opt for six axes versions. However, vertical lathes, which have just two axes, are most popular for large diameter work.

Lathes are used in woodturning, metalworking, metal spinning, and glass working. Lathes can be used to shape pottery, the best-known design being the potter's wheel. Most suitably equipped metalworking lathes can also be used to produce most solids of revolution, plane surfaces and screw threads or helices. Ornamental lathes can produce three-dimensional solids of incredible complexity. The material can be held in place by either one or two centers, at least one of which can be moved horizontally to accommodate varying material lengths.

A milling machine is a machine tool used to machine solid materials. Milling machines are often classed in two basic forms, horizontal and vertical, which refer to the orientation of the main spindle. Both types range in size from small, bench-mounted devices to room-sized machines. Unlike a drill press, which holds the work piece stationary as the drill moves axially to penetrate the material, milling machines also move the work piece radically against the rotating milling cutter, which cuts on its sides as well as its tip?

Jig boring is used so that you can accurately enlarge already existing holes. You can make the diameters highly accurate. Jig boring is used for the holes that need to have a perfect diameter and a total run out that is controlled to a high degree. The item that is being worked on already has holes that have been machined on regular equipment that isn’t as accurate then the item is transferred to the jig boring machine for the final adjustments.

A horizontal boring machine is a machine tool which bores holes in a horizontal direction. There are three main types of horizontal boring machines and they are table, planer and also floor. The table borer is the most common borer machine and it is the most versatile. This is the most universal type of machine.
A horizontal boring machine has its work spindle parallel to the ground and work table. There are 3 linear axes in which the tool head and part move. This dictates that the main axis that drives the part towards the work spindle is the Z axis, with a cross-traversing X axis and a vertically-traversing Y axis. The work spindle is referred to as the C axis and, if a rotary table is incorporated, its centre line is the B axis.

- CNC Water Bed Plasma Cutter
CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control, the plasma cutting system uses gases that have been superheated into plasma cut patterns. The systems are made up of a plasma cutting tool, a manipulator for the tool, a base table and a computer interface that will control the cutting. This machine is used in both small and also large scale manufacturing of parts from materials. Sheet metal is often used, that involves two dimensional cuttings.

Sub-Arc: Highly portable, manual metal arc welding machine for the general fabrication and repair and maintenance welder.
Mag: Metal Inert/Metal Active Gas welding, commonly referred to as MIG/MAG welding, might be described as ‘semi-automatic’, meaning the arc is ‘self-adjusting’. Any variation in the arc length produces a change in the ‘burn-off’ rate allowing rapid re-establishment of the original arc length.
Mig: Mig Welding uses a combined electrode and filler material
Tig: Uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld.
MMA- Manual Metal Arc: The process allows only short lengths of weld to be produced before a new electrode needs to be inserted in the holder. Weld penetration is low and the quality of the weld deposit is highly dependent on the skill of the welder.

This is when you permanently form pipes or tubing into different shapes. Form bound bending procedures like “press bending” or “rotary draw bending” are used to form the work piece into the shape of a die. Straight tube stock can be formed using a bending machine to create a variety of single or multiple bends and to shape the piece into the desired form. This process can be used to form complex shapes out of different types of ductile metal tubing.
